About the Georgetown College Summer Experience
Our three students, together with 26 others from three different schools, took a lengthy flight to Lexington, Kentucky, the US, to participate in a meaningful summer camp named Georgetown College Summer Experience from 6 – 17 July, 2018.
It gave secondary school students from Hong Kong great exposure to small college life in the United States. We took part in various activities both on- and off- campus. During morning hours, we were engaged in classes, including Chemistry, Ecology, Communications, Business and Theatre, taught by Georgetown College professors. We all found the courses fascinating and rewarding.
Afternoon sessions were excursions and sight-seeing tours to Central Kentucky countryside, horse farms, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, and Buffalo Trace Distillery, among others, along with a visit to Mammoth Cave, the world’s longest cave, and trips to the state capital and the City of Louisville waterfront, to name just a few. Other off-campus activities included dining in the homes of professors and friends of the college, visits with President and Mrs. Greene in their home, and numerous dining and recreational interactions with staff members. We extended our gratitude to all the staff members and student helpers who contributed a lot of their time and efforts to make their exchange a success. Not only do we love the experience, but also all the people we met in Kentucky, America! |
